A man is upset after a 911 operator laughs at a story he recalled when calling police for help after his car catches fire, injuring his girlfriend.
Lalo Delgado, a resident of Tuscon, is enraged on Thursday at the fact that when he called 911 to report the fact that his car had caught on fire, and that his girlfriend was severely burned, the operator at the other end of the 911 call appeared to laugh at him.
With the 911 call officially released, here’s how the conversation between Delgado and the 911 operator unfolded:
Delgado: “My car just kinda caught on fire, my girlfriend caught on fire.”
911: “Is your girlfriend still on fire?”
(laughter in background)
911: "OK. (chuckling) Umm... Is your vehicle still on fire?"
Caller: "It's hilarious, huh?"
911: "Sir, is your vehicle still on fire?"
Caller: "I just heard you smirk..."
911: "OK, sir it wasn't regarding that, OK."
Caller: "Yeah, I just heard you laugh."
The 911 audio has since gone viral, which has prompted an on-going investigation into what may have caused the operator to laugh at Delgado’s story.
