This Sunday, while many will be preparing food and their homes for their Super Bowl party, volunteers from the 911 Dog and Cat Rescue of Morristown will be bagging groceries at the Shoprite of Greater Morristown , 178 E. Hanover Avenue, Cedar Knolls (at the intersection of E. Hanover Avenue and Horsehill Rd.; 973-829-6825) for donations to support the care of the animals taken in by the rescue. Donations will be taken while the volunteers bag groceries for those shopping at the store. The event will begin at 8:30 am and end at 3:30 pm.
911 Dog and Cat Rescue is a small dog and cat rescue dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of the dogs and cats of Morristown. Many of the animals helped were animals that ended up with the Morristown Animal Control Department either by owner surrender or animals that were found but no owner ever claimed them. Since founded in 2010, 911 Dog and Cat Rescue has had a 0% euthanasia rate for healthy animals. The funds collected will go towards the veterinary care, purchases of necessary supplies and other needs of the animals at the rescue.
Some of the animals still waiting for their "fur-ever" homes can be seen in the slide show above. If you are considering adopting and/or donating to the group, please contact Samantha Judson, Animal Control Officer/Animal Cruelty Investigator (ACO/ACI) at email@example.com or through the group's Facebook webpage.
A second fund-raiser that will benefit 911 Dog and Cat Rescue is a comedy show/tricky tray event called Stand Up For Paws, scheduled for April 12, 2014 at the Bickford Theatre in Morristown. Two other animal rescues that will benefit from this event are FernDog Rescue Foundation of Caldwell, and PAWS of Montclair. This event is being hosted by Pittie Full Events Plus: A Pit Bull Rescue, Awareness & Advocacy Organization.
Tickets to the event ($30 each) can be purchased on-line by clicking this link.
