A 911 call over bedtime earned one young boy a visit from the police Wednesday night. The 10-year-old boy was unhappy with his mother's 8 p.m. bedtime for him, and he thought calling the emergency number to report her would work in his favor. When he hung up the operator of course called back, and Enterprise News shared the rest of the details on Feb. 21.
When the 911 operator called back, the boy's mother explained that her son had called in to try to get her in trouble for telling him he had to go to bed. The mother even tried to put the boy on the phone, and he decided not to utilize the opportunity. After the 911 call over bedtime the operator had to send someone out to check on them since the boy had hung up, so an officer went to the family's apartment to talk with the boy.
No charges were filed against the family, and the officer chatted with the Brockton, Mass. boy about how inappropriate it was to call 911 over something so trivial as being unhappy about bedtime. The mom explained on the phone that she had told him to go ahead and call, as can be heard in the recording of the call on the Enterprise News site. It's not unusual for the emergency operators to get hang up calls, which they always follow up on to check out, but a 911 call over bedtime from a 10-year-old was probably a new one for this operator.
