A new way to evaluate obesity, ABSI measures fat better than BMI
Just what you want to hear when you are already feeling “fat” right? They found a new way to measure it. But it’s for the health of it. According to the Atkins For a New You Workbook, In addition to body mass index BMI and waist-to-hip ratio WHR, researchers at the City College of New York discovered it. Which it seems is already on it’s way to becoming the standard. The new tool is a body shape index ABSI and it combines BMI and waist size.

The ABSI measures excessive belly fat, and a high ABSI means a significantly increased risk of early death. If this new metric becomes the new norm for identifying and unhealthy body type, it would definitely identify the BMI’s flaw, the fact that it doesn’t take into consideration body composition.
