The DPD said in a release Tuesday afternoon that no charges will be filed in a case involving a shooting by a 9-year-old boy.
A 15-year old teen was shot while walking in the 12800 block of Kilbourne Saturday evening.
The victim was treated and released from a local hospital.
Police initially thought the 9-year-old purposely shot the teen from the front porch of his house.
Police now say that the boy found the loaded gun while playing in his front yard. The gun went off by accident, police say, as the boy was playing with it.
Investigators had received conflicting information, but were able to corroborate the boy’s story by Tuesday.
Police say the boy’s mother would not be charged, either.
