Father Leo Patalinghug (“Father Leo”), founder of Grace Before Meals and Professor of Pastoral Theology at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md., will be a featured speaker and guest chef at the National Press Club’s Fourth Estate Restaurant on Thursday, September 23 at 6:30 p.m. for a wine-dinner event.
The night will begin with a pre-dinner reception and speech by Father Leo, where he’ll give the audience some background and explain the mission of his “Grace Before Meals” movement. Patalinghug will also explain each course and mingle with guests. The event will include a five-course dinner with paired wines.
“I’m honored to be selected as a featured speaker at the National Press Club and work alongside Chef Delbert to create a great menu for the evening,” said Father Leo. “The night is going to be a lot of fun and I’m excited to share the Grace Before Meals message with such a distinguished group of people.”
Grace Before Meals was founded by Father Leo in an effort to encourage families to spend more family meals together, which helps to form stronger relationships. Father Leo’s website, GraceBeforeMeals.com, features recipes for family meals, blogs about his travels and food experiences, podcasts and web shows. Patalinghug has been featured in The Washington Post and on CBS Sunday Morning with his shout out to the family dinner. He also appeared on Food Network’s hit show Throwdown with Bobby Flay last fall in which Fr. Leo defeated the renowned chef in a steak fajita cook-off.
The cost is $70 for National Press Club members and $93 for non-members. Tickets can be reserved by calling 202-662-7638 or by emailingfourthestate@press.org.
