It’s amazing what memories we choose to remember and those we unconsciously block out. Nevertheless, the horrific events that occurred on September 11, 2001 really seem like they happened yesterday. There is no doubt that everyone can recall where they were when the planes hit the Twin Towers and the Pentagon on that tragic day (Sage Park Middle School, Windsor, Connecticut, eighth grade Science class). Receiving the news of what was happening less than an hour drive away really hit home. “In total, almost 3,000 people died in the attacks, including the 227 civilians and 19 hijackers aboard the four planes. It also was the deadliest incident for firefighters in the history of the United States.” People lost their family members that day, fathers, mothers, wives, daughters, sons and friends, what a terrible incident to have to experience. To the families we pray for you everyday and on this day we pay tribute to the victims of 9/11. Always remember. Never forget.
