On the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the 9/11 Arts Project kicked off a “year of healing” which features local events and programs including dance and literary performances; art exhibitions; facilitated dialogues; concerts; theater; interfaith services; film screenings; and such, because the 9/11 Arts Project is all about using the arts to connect our diverse community in the DC Metro area and catalyze a citywide healing discourse.
This Tuesday, the Joan Hisoaka Healing Arts Gallery, with the help of Cross-Pollinate, and in conjunction with the VESSEL exhibition, will be hosting a Literary Art Tour. Selected writers such as Lindsay Bernal, Melanie Figg, Steve Godwin, Micah Greenberg, Danielle Kuczynski, Whitney Gratton, Buzz Mauro, and others, have been experiencing the show since it opened last month. And now they are responding to chosen specific art works via poetry, prose, storytelling, and song.
You’ll be guided through the exhibit as writers perform their pieces next to the visual artwork which inspired their literary responses. So if you dig art and literature then this will be an orgasm!
