8th ranked Foothill College Owls football team routs Cabrillo College 43-7 (Photos)

8th ranked Foothill College prevailed against the Cabrillo College Seahawks 43-7 on Saturday, October 2, 2010 in Aptos, CA. Both team defenses held for the most part in the first half with Foothill leading 13-0. The Owls, however, exploded in the second half to a 43-7 win.

Foothill only managed a field goal in the 1stquarter. In the second quarter with Cabrillo in Foothill territory, the Seahawks went for a fake field goal that turned into a disaster. Cabrillo Quarterback Jerry Alvarez, who was the holder, picked up the ball and attempted a pass and was intercepted by Foothill’s Litani MoiMoi who returned it 57 yards for an Owls touchdown. The Owls added a late field goal to lead 13-0 at half time.

In its first drive of the 3rd quarter, Cabrillo marched down the field and scored a touchdown to cut the Owls lead to 13-7. On the ensuing kickoff, however, Foothill increased its lead by returning the kickoff for a touchdown. It was all Owls from then on with Foothill scoring 3 more touchdowns and a safety to complete the rout at 43-7 despite Foothill being penalized 13 times for 117 yards including 3 unsportsmanlike conduct and player ejections.

With the win, Foothill remained undefeated with a 4-0 record while Cabrillo fell to 1-3.
