Friday, Feb. 22 kicks off a weekend of fun, giveaways, guest appearances and thousands of square feet of exhibits for the do-it-yourself person or family at the 8th Annual Augusta Home and Garden Show.
DIY Network's "Yard Crashers" celebrity Ahmed Hassan will make guest appearances on Saturday (12 noon, 3 p.m.) and Sunday (1:30 p.m.). So have your questions ready. His topic will be "The simple yet complicated side of landscaping."
Other seminars included in the three-day admission price will include Friday's topics: Plants for shade and sun, pruning ornamental trees and shrubs, and growing great roses, as well as Saturday's beekeeping seminar.
Augusta's Champion Windows is offering the chance to win $10,000 in home improvements. And the extensive exhibits on site will provide lots of ideas on how to spend it.
CSRA Humane Society will man the Pet Zone, which is offering live pet adoptions on site, and workshops are being offered in the event's Interactive Kidz Zone by The Home Depot and Fancy Hats by Certa Pro Painter.
Free DIY seminars will run all three days, and a one-time admission fee enables visitors to return at no charge throughout the weekend.
Taste samples will be provided in the Art, Gift and Gourmet Center, and a free tote bag will be given out (while supplies last).
Attendees can expect to save money from suppliers that are present with "show only" prices.
The cost to take in the landscapes, water features, pools, spas, home interior designs and more is free to those active in the military or those aged 16 and under.
Seniors aged 65 and up, as well as retired persons with military ID, pay only $6.00 for the three-day event; Adults 17 and up pay $7.50 to attend all three days.
Event showtimes on Friday are 2:00 - 7:00 p.m.; Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., and Sunday hours will be 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Tickets can only be purchased at the door, on-site, and during hours of operation at the James Brown Arena, located at 601 Seventh Street in Augusta, Georgia.
