On Wednesday, Feb. 13, KRQE published a shocking tale of survival involving a 24-year-old pregnant woman with her 3-year-old daughter, a 49-year-old man that attacked her and an 87-year-old man who saved her life.
The woman was doing laundry at a rental property in Roswell, NM when the man approached her and proceeded to make sexual advances towards her. After refusing his advances, the man became angry and pushed her down. She managed to get away from him and run with her daughter to her landlord’s house next door.
However, her attacker followed her, forced his way inside, again knocking her down, then repeatedly hitting her in the face. The landlord then intervened and shot the attacker in the torso. The attacker then turned his anger towards the landlord and came after him when the landlord shot him for a second time.
Even after being shot twice, the woman’s attacker still ran around the property for nearly an hour before finally driving himself to the hospital. This strongly reiterates a saying that has been floating around the internet since being seen on a sign at the Guns Across America rally.
The sign stated:
I NEED OVER 7 ROUNDS (RAPISTS ARE HARDER TO KILL THAN DEER)
Indeed they are.
According to the report, Chaves County Sheriff's Department Lt. Britt Snyder made the following statements regarding the incident.
“We think it sounds fortunate that the landlord was armed in this case. He certainly would have been no match for a man that’s 40 years younger than him… Having taken action with a handgun may have prevented a possible murder, maybe the murder of both of them.”
This story serves as another example of not only guns saving lives, but also an example of how the system is broken and fails to protect the people. The woman’s attacker was already wearing an ankle monitor for being on probation for yet another assault.
With NBC’s weeklong series “investigating” “gun violence” in America, which exploits deaths that occurred over a weekend in January in an attempt to gain acceptance for gun control, the Little Rock Gun Rights Examiner has started its own series in an effort to help show that guns not only take lives, they very often save them. The series will highlight 30 days of guns saving lives. This is story number three.
