Early Sunday morning, March 10, 2013, there was an unfortunate accident involving 8 teenagers in Warren, Ohio about 60 miles from Cleveland. According to Newsnet5 (channel 5 news), 8 teens were riding in an SUV which was found out later to be stolen reported by Ohio Highway Patrol.
The SUV reportedly hit a guardrail, flipped over, and landed upside down in a pond. Although officials are still investigating the speed of the vehicle and the toxicology reports, they do know that all of the teens were friends and none of them were wearing seatbelts. Five of the victims were trapped in the vehicle, one was thrown outside of the vehicle and found underneath it as officials pulled the vehicle out of the water. The two surviving boys were able to get out of the vehicle by breaking a back window, swimming out, and running to a near by house to call 911.
The driver was a 19 year old, Alexis Cayson. The passengers were 14 year olds Andrique Bennett and Brandon Murray and 15 year olds Kirklan Behner, Ramone White, and Dayland Ray. The two survivors were 18 year old Brian Henry and 15 year old Asher Lewis. Family and friends reported all the teens as good kids. The father of Andrique, Andre Bennett Sr., said the teens stayed the night at a friends house and a girl offered them a ride home.
Unfortunately, that ride turned deadly. Investigators are still looking into more details of the accident.
My deepest condolences go out to all of the families of those teens.
