Exercising during pregnancy has many benefits that include: easing or preventing back pain and other discomforts, boosting mood and energy levels, and preventing excess weight gain. But recent photos a woman posted of herself powerlifting at 8 months are being considered everything but healthy by many.
Lea-Ann Ellison, a 35 year-old mother of two, posted photos of her intense weightlifting routine on her Facebook page, and angry women and mothers are vigorously voicing their disdain.
“8 months pregnant with baby number 3 and CrossFit has been my sanity,” Ellison wrote in the caption, but readers think her methods are hardly sane.
Ellison has been accused of being “selfish” and “endangering the life of her unborn child.”
Another commenter wrote, ““This is actually sickening, I hope pregnant women around the world do not do this kind of crap,” one woman wrote. “I am a crossfit enthusiast but I DO NOT recommend this at all.”
Ellison had these words for her commenters, “Thank you to all who posted and continue to post positive, supportive comments regarding my photo,” she wrote. “I had NO IDEA what a stir this would create....It makes me feel proud and loved and STRONGER!!!!”
