I'm proud to say that my 8 month old son Maxwell continued his commitment to giving back by hosting his first "Give Love Project" event this past weekend to benefit our troops and wounded warriors. Maxwell was joined by an amazing group of family and friends who all came together to show their love and support for the brave men and women that serve our country and sacrifice so much for the freedoms that we enjoy.
Guests donated DVDs, CDs, magazines, books, sundries, calling cards, gift cards, hats and sunglasses. Our generous sponsors Hostess, Thera Pearl and Emergen-C donated tasty treats, hot and cold therapy packs and packets of vitamin enfused fizzy goodness which were included with everyone's donated items in care packages being delivered to wounded warriors and being sent to troops all over the U.S. and around the world. The children in attendance wrote heartfelt cards to the troops and wounded warriors and drew beautiful pitcures for them.
Maxwell's family and friends enjoyed delicious snacks and desserts, bagels and cream cheese donated by the kind team at Western Bagel and Vita Coco generously supplied their refreshing coconut water to keep everyone hydrated. Micaela Bensko gave a presentation to Maxwell and his baby and kiddie friends on her iPad about showing our troops and wounded warriors love and respect.
Maxwell's friend Laurie Baker was kind enough to drive all of the donated supplies to the Wounded Warrior Project office in San Diego where they are being packaged and shipped to our heroes. Maxwell is proud to report that his goal of being able to collect enough supplies for 100 troops and wounded warriors was exceeded. He couldn't have done it without the incredible generosity, love, help and support of his very special family and friends. Everyone is excited about the smiles these care packages will bring to the deserving men and women who will be receiving them.
