A series of internet spots began today which aims to build momentum toward CINEMA Day, the February 8th rally on the steps of the capital building supporting film incentives for Colorado. The string of promotional videos leading up to the big day is the brainchild of Colorado filmmaker James Drake of 5kInsight. He enlisted the help of Michael Haskins, an entertainment attorney and actor, and together they have gathered talent from the Denver area to create eight 60-second spots promoting the rally.

Says Haskins: "The whole purpose of '8 for the 8th' is to promote awareness about CINEMA Day, February 8th, 7:30 am at the Capital, and to help get some truth out about what film incentives do for the state economy."

The first of the videos features the talents of local actor/ poet/ performer Theo Wilson, with an original composition created just for the 8 for the 8th spots.

Drake and Haskins hope that film industry folks will share the videos and invite as many people as possible to the rally. The point that the videos make is that film incentives are good for the whole state, not just one industry. Hotels, restaurants, salons, and catering companies are examples of ancillary industries that will benefit from increased film production, so everyone is encouraged to come out and show their support.

Keep an eye on the Colorado Film Incentives 2012 page for more videos as they're posted.
