The 7th Annual Tyler Job Memorial Breakfast will be held this year from 7–10 a.m., January 19 at Piper High School, 4400 N. 107th St., Kansas City, Kan. Cost is $5 for Adults/$3 for Students.
"My son Tyler Jobe was killed by a drunk driver in 2006," said Bridgette Jobe, Executive Director, Kansas City Kansas Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc. "Since then every January we have held a memorial Pancake Breakfast to raise funds for a scholarship for a Piper High School wrestler in honor of Tyler."
According to the press release, Jobe was a member of the Piper High School Wrestling Program from 1997-2001. He also participated in the event under the most extreme odds after losing a section of his leg in an automobile accident his junior year. Yet he participated in the sport during his senior year.
"After high school, Tyler set his sights on becoming a mentor and role model for young athletes facing the challenge of artificial limbs," Bridgette Jobe said. "On Oct. 4, 2006, Tyler lost his life at the hand of a drunk driver."
Each year since the beginning of the memorial pancake breakfast, the fund has been able to provide one-to-three wrestlers with scholarships.
