A 79-year-old shot dead in his Brooklyn apartment has both police and the public trying to understand what happened in the elderly man’s death this week, as Web Pro News reported this Monday, Feb. 25, that an old man found dead in his apartment this Sunday with a gunshot wound to the neck had officials “baffled” at first, but now is thought to be the result of a stray bullet.
James Jackson was discovered by his wife this weekend — an elderly woman who is legally blind and wears a hearing aid — after calling to a neighbor for help when she was unable to wake her husband. Neighbors noted that Jackson had no known enemies, and there was no evidence of a break-in at his Brooklyn apartment. The 79-year-old shot dead search term began to trend on search engines after police figured the elderly man may have been the unfortunate victim of a stray bullet.
With her hearing aid and while sleeping, it’s very possible that Jackson’s wife would not have heard the gunshot being fired.
“Joyce could you come down here, I can’t wake up Tyrone,” said a neighbor on her calling for help. “He was laying in the couch in a puddle of blood.”
James Jackson was said to be a kind man who would help anyone who needed it. Whether a stray bullet or not, this 79-year-old shot dead case is certainly a tragic one.
