Earlier this week Rockstar games released the massively anticipated Grand Theft Auto V. With it, Rockstar shattered sales records across the board, selling over 1.5 million copies in the UK while pulling in over $800 million in world wide revenue within 24 hours.
Today, Rockstar announced another milestone; Grand Theft Auto V has gone on to eclipse the billion dollar mark in less than three days. For a frame of reference, it took Activison's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 over 15 days to perform such a feat, and 17 days for Avatar, two previous holders of the billion dollar record.
Insane numbers, indeed. With Rockstar releasing the games multi-player on October 1st, one could only assume that the popularity of the series will only retain itself through the upcoming Holiday season.
