71st Annual Golden Globe Nominees Announced

See also

Today, the nominees for the upcoming 71st Annual Golden Globes were announced. The list holds many names that we’ve gotten used to see at the awards, with a few surprises.

Due to the success and high reviews from last years Golden Globes, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have come back to host this year’s event.

For the TV categories, Breaking Bad leads Drama with 3 nominations and Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, and new comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine each got 2 nominations for the Comedy portion.

For Television, it’s hard to pick out the favorites, but Breaking Bad has a shot to win an award or two having won at the Emmy’s. I would like to see Amy Poehler take home a Globe for Parks and Recreation, but it will probably go to veteran Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

For movies, American Hustle is leading the charge with 6 nominations with a nomination in each of the 4 acting categories, which looks to become a theme for a David O. Russell film.

12 Years a Slave will most likely win Best Drama, while Best Comedy is still a toss-up. Sandra Bullock is the early favorite to win Best Actress and Jennifer Lawrence is an early favorite to win her 2nd Golden Globe in as many years for Supporting Actress.

The full list of nominations for movies and Television is below.

There is a healthy mix of nominations this year and it’s going to be fun to see who wins and other anecdotes that Fey and Poehler will bring to the table.

The 71st Golden Globe Awards is set to air January 12th, 2014.
