Nightclubs are known for their flashing lights, massive dance floors and the musical prowess of their guest DJ’s. What they aren’t typically known for is their employment of a 6-year-old boy who can spin the turntables with amazing precision. That is until now.
According to a Guinness World Record statement obtained by Examiner.com, on July 29th Guinness World Records confirmed that Brandan Duke has earned the record for youngest club DJ, coming in at 6 years 217 days. Brandan, who Dj’s under the stage name of Dextrous One, took the title last summer at Toronto’s Kool Haus in front of a crowd of 8 thousand.
Born in 2006, the 7-year-old has made quite a name for himself. He has been featured on a segment of Toronto’s Breakfast Television, where he met one of Toronto’s most popular rapper’s, Maestro Fresh Wes and he has managed to perform at several events. A quick peek at his Facebook and Twitter pages and it is obvious that the rising star is keeping himself busy with events such as Youth Day Toronto and a Pan Am games event.
In a recent interview, Duke says he is most inspired by fellow Canadian DJ Deadmau5. In his Instagram account, Duke poses with his coaches, Frank Williams and Coach LABO and jokes about LABO being in the Canadian military and that he hardly ever smiles. Duke on the other hand, always has a smile on his face, as he pursues his passion for live DJ performances.
In addition to completing second grade, Duke can add a Guinness World Record to his blossoming resume.
