With the holidays approaching, many women, especially busy moms, feel stressed and overwhelmed with all that needs to get done. Licensed Massage Therapist, Linda Penkala of Corporate Pit Stop, based in the Baltimore metro area, says, “The level of stress and overwhelm I see and feel through client’s muscles over the years during Christmas and the Holidays weighs heavy on many – mostly women.” She believes that it can take until February and March for women to find their calm, and rebound from all the extras on their plates.
Linda recommends using healing essential oils on a daily basis to help busy women be more “energized, focused, calm, and productive in the midst of working, planning, cooking and shopping. Aromatherapy diffused in the office or home is a simple way to help benefit from smelling what nature offers us for natural answers.”
Linda shares 7 tips to be stress-free and calm during the holidays, and recommends essential oils by Young Living:
1. Begin the day in a state of calm and gratitude – whether in prayer, meditation, yoga, or a walk. Use a few drops of Young Living Essential Oil “Valor”, for courage and strength as you begin your day. This oil can be rubbed onto the neck, heart, behind the ears, and on the feet for balance and alignment.
2. Write a To-Be list - Ask yourself who are you choosing to be today? In that moment, drop Essential Oil “Lavender” in your hands. After rubbing your hands together, breathe deeply and state your wish “to be” calm.
3. Choose to move – Exercise is the greatest tool for stress management. This could be a simple walk sometime in your day – inside or out, and staying true to your normal routine of exercise, and not deviating due to time constraints. To get moving, try some uplifting Essential Oil “En-R-Gee” on your wrists, inside elbows, neck and heart and inhale before exercising.
4. Time Management – Be gentle on yourself with how much you can truly do in a day, so that you’re not totally depleted at the end of the day. Essential Oil “JOY” can be used as a perfume, or cologne and as a reminder to be present in your pace and choices. Saying yes to everyone may not be in your best interests, so asking for help within the family is totally reasonable and needed for support.
5. Eat and drink with intention – Stay hydrated with water throughout the day (half your body weight in ounces) and add a drop of Essential Oil “Lemon” or “Citrus Fresh“ to keep your immune system strong. Research shows that sugar depresses the immune system, so be aware of healthier options, like yogurt, kefir, fruits, etc. Essential Oil “Thieves” can support the immune system and keep your body at a high frequency of health so you do not succumb to other people’s illnesses.
6. Get touched and be touched – Get a massage to connect to yourself, allowing a state of calm, and peace, with no stimulation but music and the healing balm of touch. We cannot thrive without touch - we all need to be touched regularly for our health. The beautiful oil of “Gathering” is perfect during this time to get past the chaotic energy of the day.
7. Get great rest – Sleep is pivotal whether under stress or not, so set the tone, and roll on some “Tranquil”, on your neck, spine, wrists, behind the ears to the brain, and inhale before bed. Essential Oil “Peace and Calming” is a gentle blend that calms and quiets the mind, while winding down the day. Removing all stimulation before bed allows for the pineal gland, along with darkness to get the message of sleep after a blissful and calm day!
