The mission of the DC Bachata Congress is to promote the growth and development of community involvement and diversity through Latin music and dance, to celebrate culture, music and well-being. The organizers of the Festival and world ambassadors of Bachata Lee "Gringuito" Smith and Kat "La Gata" worked really hard to put together an amazing event with unprecedented 12 Ballrooms totaling 90,000 sq ft in dance space.

Every day is filled with workshops, classes, demonstrations delivered by local and world dance champion extraordinaires. Surprises and theme parties will keep you on your (dancing) toes throughout the whole event:

Thursday night - 50 Shades of Grey, Wear your best Grey Outfit
Friday night - Lions & Tigers & Bachateros OHH MY! Animal Print Party
Saturday night - Red Carpet, Dress to Impress
Sunday night - Pajama Party

"With 57 unbelievably talented dance instructors all under one roof at the DC Bachata Congress it will be the weekend to remember, says Lee Smith. It is always hard work to put an event of this caliber together but to see creativity, beauty and virtuoso moves on the dance floor by people of all ages is really priceless".

This year, The Bachata Congress is giving back to community. The organizers of the event have launched a Community Connection Initiative that aims to reach out to high school and university students. The Bachata Scholarship will be awarded to 150 deserving students across the United States. Recipients will get a full festival pass (valued at $300). This pass will give them access to all the workshops and enhance cultural diversity experiences the Festival entails.
