Broadway's annual awards event, the 65th annual Tony Awards were held on June 12, 2011. The awards, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, were presented at Beacon Theatre in New York City ant broadcast live on CBS. The big winner of the evening was "Book of Mormon," picking up nine awards, including Best Play. "War Horse," the Best Play winner, picked up a total of five awards.

"Book of Mormon" won the Tony Award for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Orchestration and Best Sound Design of a Musical.
"War Horse won the Tony Awards for Best Play, Best Lighting Design of a Play, Best Sound of a Play and Best Direction of a Play.
The Best Play was "War Horse." Nominees in the category included "Good People," "Jerusalem" and The Mother **ker with the Hat.;"
The Best Musical was "The Book of Morman." Nominees in the category included: "Catch Me If You Can," "The Scottsboro Boys" and "Sister Act."

The Best Revival of a Play was "The Normal Heart." Nominees included: "Arcadia," "The Importance of Being Earnest" and "The Merchant of Venice."
The Best Revival of a Musical was "Anything Goes." "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" was also nominated.
The Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play went to Mark Rulannce for "Jerusalem." Nominees included: Brian Bedford for "The Importance of Being Earnest," Bobby Cannavale for "The Motherf**ker with the Hat," Joe Mantello for "The Normal Heart," and Al Pacino, for "The Merchant of Venice."
The Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play went to Frances Mcormand for "Good People." Nominees included: Nina Arianda for "Born Yesterday," Lily Rabe for "The Merchant of Venice," Vanessa Redgravef for" Driving Miss Daisy" and Hannah Yelland for :Brief Encounter."
The Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical went to Norbert Leo Butz for "Catch Me If You Can." Nominees included: Josh Gad for "The Book of Mormon," Joshua Henry for "The Scottsboro Boys," Andrew Rannells for "The Book of Mormon" an Tony Sheldon for "Priscilla Queen of the Desert."
The Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical went to Sutton Foster for "Anything Goes." Nominees included: Beth Leavel for "Baby It's You!," Patina Miller for :Sister Act: and Donna Murphy for :The People in the Picture."
The Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play went to John Benjamin Hickey for "The Normal Heart." Nominees included Mackenzie Crook for "Jerusalem," Billy Crudup for "Arcadia,: Arian Moaye for "Bengal Tiger at the Bagdad Zoo" and Yul Vazques for "The Mother ** with the Hat."
The Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play went to Ellen Barkin for "The Normal Heart." Nominees included: Edie Falco for "The House of Blue Leaves," Judith Light for "Lombardi," Joanna Lumley, La Bête" and Elizabeth Rodriguez for "The Motherf**ker with the Hat."
The Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical went to John Larroquette for "How to Succedd in Business Without Really Trying." Nominees included: Colman Domingo for "The Scottsboro Boys," Adam Godley, Anything Goes, Forrest McClendon for "The Scottsboro Boys" and Rory O'Malley for "The Book of Mormon."

The Best Scenic Design of a Play went to Rae Smith for "War Horse." Nominees included: Todd Rosenthal for "The Motherf**ker with the Hat," Ultz for "Jerusalem: and Mark Wendland for "The Merchant of Venice."
