Manchester Police arrested a city resident after she became involved in an altercation with another woman and then went after the victim with a large kitchen knife Thursday afternoon.
According to a press release by the Manchester Police Department, Kelly McAndrew, 37, is charged with Simple Assault and felony Criminal Threatening.
Police said officers responded to a Silver Street address at about 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 21, 2013 for a report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers interrupted McAndrew, armed with a knife as she chased another woman out of the apartment.
Police spoke with Donald Fisher, 63, of 363 Silver Street, who reported two of his houseguests were involved in a fight, identifying one of them as Kelly McAndrew.
Fisher further explained that he had become involved in an argument with McAndrew when his other houseguest, who is the daughter of his roommate, came to his assistance. McAndrew allegedly attacked the 44-year-old Summerville, South Carolina woman and a physical altercation ensued. McAndrew then reportedly retrieved a large knife from a kitchen drawer, threatening to kill the other woman as she advanced on her. The victim retreated from the apartment as the armed assailant attempted to give chase.
Fisher told police he blocked McAndrew’s egress from the apartment and then deployed a Taser-type device attached to his cane to further prevent her from chasing after the woman. However, when he applied the Taser to McAndrew’s leg, it reportedly had little effect. Police arrived shortly thereafter.
Based on the information gathered at the scene, the officers arrested McAndrew, charging her with the aforementioned offenses.
