Are you are one of the many who have vowed to get in shape, lose weight and exercise more? If you are, remember to wear the right clothing when you exercise. In the long run (no pun intended), when you equip yourself with the appropriate clothing you are more likely to stay active without discomfort. Sometimes, we can convince ourselves that this exercise thing isn’t worth the effort over a few uncomfortable clothing decisions. Here are a few items of clothing to wear to help you attain your exercise goals.
1.) Undergarments with support – this is a must for both men and women. You can’t get into an exercise groove if it hurts to do your activities or things are bouncing around. Picking the right underwear and bra that will keep things in place will in turn keep you moving. Your local Sports Authority will have several sports underwear styles.
2.) Breathable materials – the best material to wear is anything that is made out of cotton. Not only is cotton “the fabric of our lives,” but it one of the most breathable and absorbent materials that is grown. Wearing cotton will help absorb the sweat while you exercise and keep you cool at the same time.
3.) Be fit with the right fit – wearing more fitted clothing while you exercise will help you avoid getting caught on things like exercise equipment or even trees. At the same time, you should avoid wearing something too tight. Wearing something like your skinny jeans while exercising might land you on the floor grasping for air or even ripping a couple seams. Try some active wear by Phoenix local Jane Weissner, owner of Trashy Cat apparel.
4.) Length appropriate clothes – it’s okay to wear things that are comfortable while you are staying active, but if you find yourself tripping or falling because of what you are wearing, perhaps a quick change is due. A change may be helpful if you also find yourself with uncomfortable wedgies due to short shorts riding up.
5.) Elastic waist bands with drawstrings – great for high impact exercises, especially if you are doing a lot of bending and jumping around. If you are losing weight and inches, having elastic waist bands with drawstrings will help you save cost and will save you the embarrassment of your pants falling down.
6.) The right shoes – are so important in maintaining your fitness routine and protecting your feet from injury. They even make shoes for barefoot runners, which focuses on landing first on the balls of your feet and lessening the impact on your joints. Check out some of the styles from Vibram Fivefingers.
Wearing clothes that are comfortable, non-distracting and safe will help you stay on top of your fitness goals. If you are only as good as your tools, make a resolution to get the right clothing for your exercise activities. Don’t be discouraged if you felt uncomfortable the first couple times at the gym, change up your exercise style and start showing off those new threads.
