After the Olympics Opening Ceremony on Friday the fans of the sporting world will have over two weeks of great competition. The 2014 Olympic Winter Olympics will kick off with an epic celebration at the Fisht Olympic Stadium and millions are expected to tune in to watch. According to CNN on Thursday last of the athletes are arriving Thursday, including the bulk of Team USA.

While there is so much to watch, the average viewer might be conflicted on what is the biggest event or the best if having only a limited amount of time. Of course there is the concern of getting a good night’s sleep too. As most of the best competitions will be early in the morning or during the night.

The tightly compact schedule offers a wide variety of match ups, but Olympic fans looking for the best might want to focus on hockey, figure skating and a few of the matchups on the slopes. The women’s halfpipe and men’s downhill are expected to be great competitions.

Never fear! We have picked our six best competitions and encourage you to catch these games, even if it seems a bit ridiculous to be watching in the middle of the night. It’s going to be so worth it!
