Congratulations are in order for actor Zac Ephron, who was photographed at a Los Angeles Lakers’ basketball game earlier this month sporting a blue AA sobriety chip while cheering on the Lakers.

Us Weekly reported on Dec. 29 that the blue chip Zac was wearing around his neck was earned when the former Disney star completed six months of sobriety.

Ephron voluntarily and secretly went into rehab back in April.

In addition to his rehab stint, Zac also made the headlines recently when he broke his jaw and had to have his mouth wired shut back in Nov., resulting from a fall he reportedly suffered from slipping in a puddle at home.

Zac’s costars from his film “That Awkward Moment” have a totally different story regarding how Zac broke his jaw though. According to Fox News:

Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan, have released the video, “Zac Efron's Broken Jaw Happened During...Sex?!”, explaining everything for their friend, who hasn't exactly been able to speak much since the incident.

“Zac was at home with a girl, giving her the worst sexual experience of her life — absolute worst,” they say, trading off lines and going into detail.

“So she picked up a book, a heavy book, and slammed it into your beautiful face.”

Zac seemed to take his co-stars’ video in stride; but with his mouth wired shut, he really didn’t, or couldn’t, comment.

Although Zac was keeping tight lipped about his time in rehab, he did post a Facebook picture of himself looking happy and healthy while vacationing on a Machu Picchu mountainside in late Sept., with the status update:

Hey guys! Just returned from an incredible trip to Peru with my dad and wanted to thank you all for your support these past few weeks...means the world to me. Love you guys! - Z

TMZ reported a few days earlier in Sept. that Zac actually went through rehab twice in 2013, and not for alcohol abuse as earlier reported, but for “a serious cocaine addiction.”

TMZ also reported that Ephron also “dabbled in Molly -- a pure form of Ecstasy, and a popular drug in clubs and raves.”

Regardless, Ephron should be proud of himself for taking the responsibility to get clean and sober. We wish him all the best as he continues his recovery.
