Want to know how you can see six minutes of Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises seven months before it arrives in theaters? Can't stand the idea of waiting another year or so to get your first look at the film's sure-to-be-explosive opening sequence? Trying to decide what movie you'll be seeing this Christmas? Read on for the answers to all of the above, Bat-enthusiasts...
The anticipation for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises is an ongoing thing, and only seems to increase as we get ever closer to the film's July, 2012 release date. Bat-enthusiasts and spoiler-hounds have been scouring the internet for every scrap of The Dark Knight Rises information they can find and-- thanks to the high-security measures Nolan's taken to protect the masses from spoilers-- it's likely that all that scouring's going to continue right up to the film's arrival in theaters.
This December, however, those wishing to get a sneak peek at The Dark Knight Rises need only hit their local IMAX theaters: Warner Bros. is bringing a fraction of the latest Bat-film to screens with Brad Bird's Mission: Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol. Here's what they're saying about the announcement-- which just came in earlier today-- over at SlashFilm:
A trusted theater (read: exhibitor) source has just exclusively alerted /Film thatWarner Bros. plans to attach a six minute prologue to The Dark Knight Rises to all IMAX prints of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Christopher Nolan‘s third film in his Batman trilogy is being released by Warner Bros. and Brad Bird‘s first live action film is Paramount, but the arrangement would certainly be mutually beneficial asMission: Impossible is the biggest IMAX release of the holiday season.
So, this December, those wishing to get a seven-month lead on Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises need to make sure they're in theaters when Mission: Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol opens. And, if you're the type of moviegoer that doesn't like having any amount of a film spoiled prior to its release, well...you'll just need to head out to the concession stand when that exclusive Dark Knight Rises preview begins, won't you?
You might recall that Warner Bros. pulled a similar stunt with Nolan's last Bat-film, The Dark Knight. Prior to that film's release, Warner Bros. screened several minutes of the film's opening before the Will Smith vehicle I Am Legend (in IMAX screenings only, just as they're doing here). In that case, many suspected that I Am Legend's strong opening weekend at the box office could have been-- in at least some small part-- thanks to the Dark Knight footage that screened beforehand.
