6 charged in child sex abuse ring

On Friday, Six men were charged today in a lurid sex-abuse ring that stretched from Montgomery County to Oklahoma according to Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Zane D. Memeger and Limerick Township Chief William Albany. www.philly.com The charges stem from an investigation that began when the parents of a 14 year old boy notified the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office of “"inappropriate material" on the boy's electronic devices. The parents notified the Limerick township police department which led the D.A.’s office to investigate in October of 2013. www.montcopa.org

In October 2013, Limerick Township Police, Montgomery County Detectives and the United States Homeland Security Investigations, Child Exploitation Unit, began an investigation into the exploitation of the young boy. The probe discovered that numerous adult men were communicating with the young boy via the Internet and his cell phone and that they were exchanging nude pictures/videos with him. The investigation went on to show that 3 other men had met the boy in person and engaged in sexual acts with him.

According to the Montgomery District Attorney’s office, at least five additional underage victims were allegedly targeted. Matthew Krapf, 43, of Collegeville, was arrested November 2, 2013 as he departed his home to allegedly meet the young boy for sex. A search of Krapf’s home turned up thousands of images and videos of child pornography, many of which Krapf allegedly produced himself.

Defendant Matthew Krapf: On Saturday, November 2, 2013, Matthew Krapf was arrested after he traveled from his home in Collegeville to have sex with Victim #1. Krapf communicated with who he believed was Victim #1 but was in fact a County Detective. Detectives and Special Agents from Homeland Security searched Krapf’s residence and seized computers, cell phones, CD’s, DVD’s and video cassette tapes. Krapf is a 43 year old male from Collegeville, PA. Forensic testing of the items seized from Krapf revealed additional victims. Detectives located thousands of images and videos of child pornography. Included in those files were images/videos produced by Krapf himself. The following individuals were located, interviewed and determined to be victimized by Krapf as minors: 1. Victim #1: 14 year old male; Exchanged nude images/videos with Krapf; met Krapf at least five (5) times and engaged in sex acts with him in 2013.2. Victim

#2: 17 year old male; Exchanged nude images/videos with Krapf; was introduced by Krapf to Victim #1 and engaged in sex acts with him as Krapf filmed the acts in 2013.

Victim #3: 15 year old male; Exchanged nude images/videos with Krapf; met Krapf at least three (3) times and engaged in sex acts with him in 2013.4.

Victim #4: Currently 22 years old; exchanged nude images/videos with Krapf in 2005; met Krapf at least three (3) times and engaged in sex acts with him which Krapf recorded on Super Hi8 video tapes and saved. 5. Victim
#5: Currently 27 years old; exchanged nude images/videos with Krapf in 2003 and engaged in sex acts with Krapf which Krapf photographed and saved. 6.

Victim#6: 13 year old male; Exchanged nude images/videos with Krapf.

Krapf is charged with Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Aggravated Indecent Assault Statutory Sexual Assault, Indecent Assault, and Disseminating Explicit Material to a Minor, Corruption of Minors, Manufacturing Child Pornography, Dissemination of Child Pornography, Possession of Child Pornography, and Unlawful Contact with a Minor. Krapf was first arrested in Montgomery County and bail was set at$1 million dollars cash. His preliminary hearing in Montgomery County was Monday, January 6, 2014, which he waived. Krapf is awaiting a pre-trial conference before the Honorable Carolyn T. Carluccio. He was indicted by the federal government on January 23, 2014.Defendant Christopher Steele: Forensic examination of Victim #1’s computers and cell phone revealed communications with Christopher Steele. Investigators learned Steele was a 33 year old male who resided in New Castle, Delaware and travelled to Montgomery County where he engaged in sex acts with Victim #1. Steele was picked up on Friday, December 13, 2013 at his house in Delaware. Steele waived extradition and was returned to Montgomery County on Wednesday, December 20, 2013. Forensic tests conducted on Steele’s computer and cell phone revealed numerous images/pictures of kid pornography. Additionally, Investigators located another minor boy victimized by Steele:

1. Victim #7: 14 year old male; Exchanged nude images/videos with Steele. Steele is charged with Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Statutory Sexual Assault, Indecent Assault, and Disseminating Explicit Material to a Minor, Corruption of Minors, and Unlawful Contact with a Minor. Steele was first arrested in Montgomery County and bail was set at $1 million dollars cash. His preliminary hearing in Montgomery County was Monday, January 6, 2014, which he waived. The case is scheduled for the call of the trial list before the Honorable Carolyn T. Carluccio on May 7, 2014.

He was indicted by the federal government on March 6, 2014.Defendant Paul Gavin Britton:
Forensic examination of Victim #1’s computers and cell phone revealed communications with Paul Gavin Britton. Investigators learned Britton was a 45 year old male who resided in Dover, Delaware and travelled to Montgomery County, where he engaged in sex acts with Victim #1. Britton was also involved in a long time relationship with Christopher Steele. Britton was arrested on Friday, January 10, 2014 at his house in Delaware. Britton was awaiting extradition on these charges when he took his own life on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at his home in Delaware. www.montcopa.org

Defendant Mark Wilczopolski: Forensic examination of Victim #1’s computers and cell phone revealed communications with Mark Wilczopolski. Victim #1 and Wilczopolski exchanged nude images and videos through the Internet. Investigators learned Wilczopolski was a 22 year old male who resided in Birdsboro, PA. Forensic examination of Wilczopolski’s cell phone revealed numerous images/videos of child pornography. Wilczopolski is charged with Disseminating Explicit Materials to a Minor, Corruption of Minors, and Unlawful Contact with a Minor, and Criminal Use of a Communication Facility. Wilczopolski was first arrested in Montgomery County and given $10,000 unsecured bond.

His preliminary hearing was held on Friday, February 21, 2014 before Magisterial District Judge Walter Gadzicki. At that time, all charges were held for court. He is now awaiting a pre-trial conference before the Honorable Steven T. O’Neill. He was indicted by the federal government on April 24, 2014.
Defendant Glenn Kriczky: Forensic examination of Victim #1’s computers and cell phone revealed communications with Glenn Kriczky. Victim #1 and Kriczky exchanged nude images and videos through the Internet. Investigators learned Kriczky was a 58 year old male who resided in Birdsboro, PA. Forensic examination of Kriczky’s cell phone revealed numerous images/videos of child pornography. Kriczky is charged with Disseminating Explicit Materials to a Minor, Corruption of Minors, and Unlawful Contact with a Minor, and Criminal Use of a Communication Facility. Kriczky is currently free on $10,000 unsecured bond. His preliminary hearing was held on Friday, February 21, 2014 before Magisterial District Judge Walter Gadzicki and was waived. He is now awaiting a pre-trial conference before the Honorable Steven T. O’Neill.

Also charged is Defendant Jason Scott Becktold: Forensic examination of Victim #1’s computers and cell phone revealed communications with Jason Scott Becktold. Victim #1 and Becktold exchanged nude images and videos through the Internet. Investigators learned Becktold was a 42 year old male who resided in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Special Agents from Homeland Security, Oklahoma City Field Office, arrested Becktold at his home on Monday, February 3, 2014. Becktold was indicted by the federal grand jury on January 23, 2014.
Matthew Krapf, Christopher Steele, Mark Wilczopolski and Glenn Kriczky will be prosecuted in Montgomery County by Assistant District Attorney Jordan Friter, and in Federal District Court by Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rotella .Jason Scott Becktold will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rotella. www.montcopa.org
