Music adds magic to the holiday season. With a number of events on the calendar, you can fill the season with magical sounds without leaving New Orleans.

Here are the 6 best holiday music events to add to your calendar this holiday season:

Baroque Christmas: On Thursday, December 12, join the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphony Chorus of New Orleans at Baroque Christmas at First Baptist Church of New Orleans at 7:30 p.m. The musical event will feature music by Handel and Bach, as well as some vocal and instrumental soloists.

Nutcracker Swing: Join The Ellis Marsalis Ensemble on Saturday, December 21 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 22 at 3 p.m. at Roussel Hall at Loyola University to enjoy your holiday favorites at the Nutcracker Swing. Their performance will be followed by Duke Ellington's arrangement of Tchaikovsky's "Nutracker Suite." The musical event will also feature the Lula Elzy New Orleans Dance Theatre.

St. Louis Cathedral Choir Christmas Concert: On Sunday, December 22 at 5:30 p.m., the St. Louis Cathedral will complete their holiday music events with its Choir Christmas Concert. The concert is free and open to the public.

Christmas Concert: The Trinity Episcopal Church presents its Christmas Concert with soprano Trish Foti Genco, harpist Helen Maxwell, flutist Anne Chabreack, cellist Karen Ray, pianists Robin Holtz-Williams and Jesse Reeks, organist Albinas Prizgintas and trumpeter Vance Wolf. The event will kick off at 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 22.

Home for the Holidays: Join the NOCCA Institute, House of Blues and the family of Daniel Price at Home for the Holidays at the House of Blues on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 6 p.m. The concert will feature performances by John Boutte, Rebirth Brass Band, Kermit Ruffins & the BBQ Swingers and Shamarr Allen & the Underdawgs, among others. Proceeds benefit the Daniel Price Memorial Fund for Aspiring Artists.

Creole Christmas: For the eighth year, Preservation Hall will feature Creole Christmas on Tuesday, December 24 at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. The musical event includes performances by Lars Edegran's St. Peter Street All-Stars with guest vocalist Big Al Carson.
