$6,000 reward offered for information on brutal killing of 2 dogs

Atlanta, GA -- The Atlanta Humane Society announced yesterday that it is adding $5,000 to the reward to find the person(s) responsible for two brutal dog killings.

The dogs, purebred chocolate Labs, wandered from their home on January 16. While they were away from their owner, someone tortured and killed them. Neighbors discovered the dogs' bodies on January 23 around 3:30 p.m. near Hutcheson Road in Bremen.

The dogs, 1.5-year-old Lexi and 1-year-old Boss, belonged to John Robinson. Robinson had purchased the dogs for his fiance as a Christmas gift. According to information in the Atlanta Humane Society's press release, the couple had just moved to a new house, and Robinson's fiance said that she would feel better if there were dogs around the home.

The dogs' owner is offering a $1,000 reward for information on the person responsible for the brutal killing.

The Carroll County Sheriff's office has reported that the dogs appear to have been beaten, shot and one appears to have been choked.

Someone capable of such brutality must be found and punished. People capable of brutal animal cruelty are frequently a danger to society as a whole.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at 770-830-5916. Investigators are currently following some leads, but they are asking that the public phone them if they have any additional tips or information.

My heart goes out to Robinson and his fiance. I hope that they find the person(s) who did this and throw them in jail - although jail would be too good for someone this evil. It makes me sick to think anyone could be so cruel to any animal, let alone Chocolate Labs. (I have a Chocolate Lab)

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Why do people have to be so cruel to animals. The person or people responsible for doing this to these dogs should receive the same torture. They don't produce anything useful for society so be gone with them.

  • Anon 1 year ago

I agree! They tortured innocent animals, please do the same to them and get their genes off this planet.

  • WTF 1 year ago

They wondererd from their home? Where were the RESPONSIBLE HOME OWNERS?? You did this to them, as much as the murderer did. You wanted THEM to protect YOU, but YOU did not protect THEM. RIP babies, I hope the owners never own another pet again and they catch the person who did this to you.

I totally agree with WTF... May they rest in peace....

    THIS COMMENT SAYS IT ALL.

  • maxiemom 1 year ago

How do you know that they wandered away from home? That's what it says, but isn't it possible that whoever did this actually let them out and took them? Labs are not nasty dogs, but very friendly, and some SOB opening a gate might be able to take them, even if it was only by getting the dogs to follow them for opening the gate in the first place! What are the odds that BOTH dogs were found and killed if it wasn't deliberately done by some low life piece of slime? After all, these are large dogs. Which brings me to another point: what are the odds that the person doesn't know these dogs if they were able to subdue them both like that?

  • brandy 1 year ago

well, it's obvious someone who lives close to these people did this. I hate people and all the cold, cruel things they do. How could anyone do such a thing to another living creature?!!! Especially innocent non-deserving dogs. I lose more and more faith in humanity every day.

  • KTX 1 year ago

Ok, WTF, I'm sure the owner didn't mean for them to get out or be harmed. Hopefully, it was an accident they got out. Dogs get loose sometimes; doesn't necessarily mean they were a bad pet owner. Either way, bad owner or not, no dog deserves to be tortured & murdered.

  • Lynne 1 year ago

Yikes! I'm a responsible pet guardian, but my dogs have gotten loose. WTF, you've never had an an accident before? Something you didn't mean to happen?

I hope the scums who did this are caught and tortured.

  • Melissa 1 year ago

I hope they catch whatever sick and revolting person who did this. Those poor innocent babies...Rest in Peace sweethearts....

OWNERS OF THESE 2 BEAUTIFUL DOGS, IF YOU GET MORE PETS MAKE SURE GATES ARE SECURE AND THAT YOU KEEP AN EYE ON THEM EVERYWHERE, IN/OUT SIDE AND SO ON.!!!!!!!
MAKE SURE THEY KNOW THERE TERRITORY AND GET SITUATED AND FIRMILIER WITH THE HOUSE AND WHERE THEY ARE BEFORE YOU LET THEM OUT IN THE YARD OR WHERE EVER.

  • rottsrus 1 year ago

Why do people who have dogs let them wander off? Do they think some kind human being will bring them back? People are no damm good. Robinson shouldn't even have a dog but I'm sure he'll go out and purchase more from a breeder and then blame someone else if something happens to them. I'm sure the breeders will be glad to collect some more money.

  • maxiemom 1 year ago

DO YOU KNOW MR. ROBINSON? WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE????? What do you mean he'll 'blame someone else if something happens to them'? THE SCUM RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE DOGS IS (OR ARE) THE B---S THAT MURDERED THEM!!! DID YOU EVEN BOTHER TO READ WHAT WAS DONE TO THESE INNOCENT DOGS??? YOU ACT LIKE THAT SCUM DID NOTHING, WHILE MR. ROBINSON IS COMPLETELY TO BLAME! Do you know any of the people involved here, or are you just one of those people who hates dogs (and their owners)?

  • Jannie 1 year ago

Just breaks my heart. I hope they find the SOB POS and hang them out to dry. WTF & rottsrus- you are both wrong in condemning the owners without knowing the circumstances. Dogs just sometimes get out even with the best, most reliable owners...a gate can blow open, the dogs can climb/jump a fence, etc.,...it can happen in an instant and the dogs can be gone in a matter of minutes before you even realize it. I think it has probably happened to all of us at some point in our lives if we've owned pets. Obviously, the owners cared very much for their dogs if they are offering a $1,000 reward.

The person(s) that tortured and killed these precious dogs are the ones in the wrong and that need to be condemned and punished for what they did. How sick does a person have to be to treat a dog in this fashion? I wouldn't want my dogs and or kids around someone that would do that. Lexi and Boss didn't deserve to be killed and tortured...they were simply being dogs...managed to get free and went exploring.

RIP sweet babies. My heart does out to the Robinsons. I would suggest that if they do get other pets they go to a shelter and rescue one of the many that are deserving of a good home and not pay big bucks to a breeder that doesn't need to be in business. They are MANY pure breed labs in shelters needing homes.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

when are these lawmakers going to get it that they need to toughen animal abuse laws and do it now!! These idiots who did this wont care all they will get is a slap on the wrist and a fine, and run right back out and do it again

  • Cas UK 1 year ago

R.I.P. Lexi and Boss, I hope they catch the sicko that tortured and killed you babies xx

  • rottsrus 1 year ago

Jannie, I disagree. Article says the dogs wandered off. That's not a hell of alot of supervision if you ask me.

  • Gina 1 year ago

Dogs get out at times and wander off. It happens. Big deal.

Where Robinson got his dogs isn't anyone's business. so what he he purchased them from a breeder? I hope it was a real breeder not a BYB. Without real breeders we wouldn't have dogs bred for various jobs. Do you think K9, seeing eye dogs, herding and hunting dogs are all rescues? no they aren't. Some bomb sniffing dogs are but most are not--they are purposely bred to do the job they need to do.

I am so sick of people thinking we all need to get a shelter dog. I PURCHASED my GSD and rescued 3 others but I also have room for all 4. If I wanted another puppy I'd buy again. Either way it's no one's business.

  • rottrus 1 year ago

    I get it Gina . . . you're one of those.

  • Kiki 1 year ago

Rottrus, I think you got it all wrong... maybe you have been one of those "lucky" ones who have never had a dog wonder off, but it happens, to everyone. I have a 4 year old Berner, who I have never had an issue with, she has never been on a leash, just the other day, when I was out side with her and my rescue dog (him being on a leash) she just wondered off...only into the neighbors yard, but far enough it scared me to death. Does this mean I am not a good pet owner? No, it means my dog was being a dog. You don't know how these dogs get out, and the paper can say they "wandered" away, but they could have also pushed the gate opened, jumped a fence, been let out...You have no idea, so do not judge.

As for breeders vs. rescues... both are needed...what is not need are BYB... responsible breeders more often then not, are also part of the breed rescue and foster dogs all the time. I feel as if you are just an individual that likes to cause issues and really have no insight into the dog world.

What happened to these dogs is brutal and is not the owners fault. Would careless owners really offer a $1000 reward? I would think if they didn't care they would have that $1000 and buy two new dogs.

I hope both those dogs rest in peace and may their owners find peace within them.

  • Kriss R 1 year ago

The world is indeed a scary place...and real evil exists. I'm sick to my stomach for the horrors these dogs endured. Does it never end?

  • maxiemom 1 year ago

Find the evil b===d that did this and do the same to them! Until judges and the law start to take animal abuse seriously, monsters like this will continue their crimes unabated. I still say the dogs had to have know the scum that did this, and whoever it was let them out. There is no other way both dogs could have been subdued, etc. There are too many evil pieces of trash in this world- ridding it of creatures like this would do us all a favor.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

"Dogs get out at times and wander off. It happens. Big deal."

Not on my watch they don't.

My heart breaks for the owners, but I have to agree with the posters that said the owners were irresponsible. I have a fenced yard, but mine are never outside unsupervised and I consider my neighborhood to be one of the safest in my area. Something can happen in a split second, so if I can't see them, they are not outside.

  • CRYSTALJACKSON 1 year ago

I would never leave my dogs outside unattended & never, ever, leave them outside when not home. I feel sad for the owners. I am sure they are suffering. Inexperienced dog owners might not realize that leaving their dogs in a fenced backyard is still not safe. People can throw poisoned meat over the fence. Some people get angry when they hear dogs barking. Many dogs can jump or scale a 6 foot or more fence, and get hit by a car, stolen, or end up at a pound and be euthanized before the owner finds it. Remember Target the war hero dog. As far a purebred dogs go, My youngest dog is a wonderful purebred SIberian Husky. He was rescued from a pound. I always tell people that no matter what breed you are drawn to, go to the shelters, pounds and rescue groups first. I believe that 25% of the pets put down in these places were purebred & once came from a breeder too. Concerning mixed breeds, many of them are just as beautiful & with better dispositions than most purebred dogs. Most of the time they are healthier and will live longer too. Next time you are in the market for a new forever companion please consider adopting and not shopping. I am so sorry for these 2 innocent creatures. The fact that they must of suffered greatly at the hands of one or more sociopaths is just horrible. My heart breaks to think that they were terrified and could not understand what was being done to them. I hope they are caught soon & justice is swift & hard for them.

  • Martha 1 year ago

Dogs just like children get out and wander off in a split of a second. The criminal responsable for this must be some one who knows the owners and must be stop for the safety of every one.

  • Regina D. 1 year ago

I'm sorry to hear that that happened to those two precious dogs. May they RIP. How could someone do this to them and why????
Hope they catch the culprit or culprits who did this to them. They probably knew the owners.

  • Jesus GuidesMe 1 year ago

Dogs running loose capable of falling into the wrong hands is a BIG DEAL to me GINA. Apparently you have a limit to your love, that's obvious to me.

Anyways, this breaks my heart. I hope the owners are very careful in the future so that this doesn't repeat itself. Obviously, the monster/s live nearby. I pray that Jesus gives sweet, miserable justice to anyone who was involved in this heartless crime.
    R.I.P. sweet, innocent babies.

  • WTF 1 year ago

I stand by my statement, 100%. I assure you, my pets have NEVER wandered off, because I am a responsible pet owner. That is just what we do!! I am their protector and there would be a cold day in hell I would ever let them out of my site. Also, if something happens to me, they are IN MY WILL. How many pet owners include them in it? Not many.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

I think all those people who say they never leave their dogs out alone and the dogs are never out of their site are full of it. Those with fenced yards, I assure you there have been times where you ran inside to just grab something off the counter and left your dog(s) outside because your yard is FENCED... there are NO perfect pet owners and we all believe our dogs would never wonder off. Those who have to reiterate your point about your dogs NEVER wandering off, are most likely those ones whose dogs do... If you feel you have to defend yourself 100% something is not the truth

  • Kriss R 1 year ago

I read in the comment section on the 11alive.com website that someone is offering to give these people 2 labs that they are trying to rehome. I think that it would be horrific to send anymore dogs to this property. It is painfully obvious that this is an unsafe area and won't be safe until the psycho(s) that did this horror are caught. On second thought, it will not even be safe then, because the abusers will just be fined then sent home to do it again once the smoke has cleared. I hope the people who put themselves in the position to safeguard these two precious dogs will wait until getting anymore animals...and when they do keep them inside when they're not home...and watch them when they are.

  • Ellen 1 year ago

While my heart goes out to these dogs and their people, I can't help but wonder if he was in Alabama, where was the fiancee and how did these dogs wander off? Did they let themselves out of the house? Are they left out alone in a yard when nobody's home? Not smart, people. Purebreds are targets for being stolen, and NO dog(s) should ever be left unsupervised - anywhere. I have a big chocolate lab mix - we both hope the person or persons who could do that to innocent creatures develop a lovely case of untreatable, painful colon cancer.

  • WTF 1 year ago

To Anonymous: Don't badmouth RESPONSIBLE pet owners. I will continue to stand by my statement. Again, I have NEVER left my pets unattended. NEVER. And these people did.

  • Buddy's Mom 1 year ago

RIP sweet chocolate babies. I hope the POS who did this to you gets caught. We don't know the owners' story (i.e., if the dogs were in a fenced yard, etc.) but I know Labs (I have 2) and if someone offered them food, they're gone in a heartbeat. If there's a rabbit, they're gone. It's up to the owners to teach them recall, no matter what. I'm just as guilty but I also know my dogs will not scale a 4' chain link fence and they are supervised in the backyard 99% of the time. (I can do the math - I know that leaves 1% and that's all it takes.)

  • rottsrus 1 year ago

Whether you agree with me or not, it all boils down to this. If the dogs were supervised, this wouldn't have happened.

  • lilitaly7 1 year ago

I hope that they find these murderers, they need to spend alot of time in jail for this atrocity. Our society doesn't need bastards like this roaming around.
