On Sat. Feb. 8, Hood’s Do-It Best in Wyandotte will host its annual “Love Me Because…” pet adoption event from noon to 5 p.m. This marks the 5th year the Downriver business has hosted the event. Since 2009 “Love Me Because…” has placed dozens of special-needs and other hard to place animals with loving families.

“Love Me Because…” is designed to help participating rescues—which this year include P.A.W.S. of Michigan, Keeper Kitties Rescue, Friends of the River Rouge Animal Shelter, Shelter to Home, and Wyandotte Adoption Center—find permanent, loving homes for special needs animals (who are often difficult to place).

As has been the custom in the past, animals available for adoption will be present at Hood’s so that people interested in adding them to their families can interact with them. This year’s “Love Me Because…” will also feature fundraising events, including a silent auction, a number of raffles, a bake sale, specially designed event t-shirts, and pet ID tags.

“Love Me Because…” is looking for bakers who would be willing to donate goods for the bake sale. Click here for bake sale details, including instructions on where and how to drop off baked goods. For more information about the event and the auctions, check the event’s Facebook page, or contact Hood’s Do-It Center at (734) 284-3648.
