Ladies and gents, and rednecks alike.....it's that time of year again to tie those bibs on and head on down to the 5th annual Arizona BBQ festival on April 5th at the Salt River Fields. As per usual, the weather is slated for a lovely 75 degrees and sunny (shocker....we do live in the desert). Over 25 pit masters will be doing what they do best....bar-b-que! Feast on tasty pork, chicken, brisket and/or ribs with all the fix in's. But wait! There's also a "bacon zone" where 10 restaurants will be serving up anything "bacon" that they desire (not sure how I missed this last year). Because, who doesn't LOVE bacon? This area will cost a little extra, which just means you need to purchase $2 tokens for each tasting. I'm definitely in for that!
Need more than just grubbing on some of the best smoked meat? Other very entertaining festivities happening at the festival include:
- A VIP yard - $60 in advance or $75 at the door, which includes admission into the festival and VIP area, food from the four VIP restaurants, and six drink tickets to use for cocktails, beer, wine, water, and soda.
- Cooking Demonstrations throughout the day by several local chef's - included with price of general admission.
- A redneck games arena - sign up to be a contestant to win prizes in games such as beer pong, pie eating, keg rolling, watermelon seed spitting contest, hubcap hurling, and more! Click here for more details, descriptions and entry form.
- Live bands all day
- Kids zone
- Pageants - Daisy Duke, Redneck Mullet, Redneck celebrity look-a-like, and others.
- and more!
If you haven't yet attended this event, don't miss out AGAIN. Get in on the fun so you have something to talk about around cooler for the next week.
