5th annual African American Author's Expo comes to Maryland


The African American Author’s Expo is holding its 5th annual expo on Sat., Aug. 16, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the North Baltimore Plaza Hotel, 2004 Greenspring Drive, Timonium, MD, features 60 local and national authors. This massive event is FREE to the public and includes workshops, speaking panels, author presentations and live entertainment. Younger guests (11-18) will enjoy a Youth Writer’s Challenge for prizes and recognition. On Friday night, the AAAE will host a gala awards ceremony honoring sponsors and authors from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are available at

“This year is a great year for the African American Authors’ Expo. We have worked with a several local and national authors who will be presenting to our guests as well as up and coming authors from around the country,” says Patricia Johnson, founder of the African American Author’s Expo.

Featured authors include Bernice L. McFadden, Sheri J. Booker, A’lelia Bundles, Ryan C. Green, and Victoria Christopher Murray. These authors will discuss their current novels and their journey on becoming best-selling authors. The free workshop sessions include Capture Your Audience in 10, 30 and 60 Seconds, presented by Karyn Hawkins-Scott; Overcoming the Stress of Being Successful, presented by Dr. Steven Haymon; Express Yourself Through the Written Word: How to Start Your Writing Project, presented by Jackie “JC’ Garnder; and Secrets to Bestseller Success in 7 Days or Less, presented by Melanie Bointa.
