April is Autism Awareness Month and the ARC of Monmouth is holding a 5K Run and Walk to commemorate the occasion. This will be the second year of the event.
The Run and Walk will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 in Asbury Park, N.J. The 5K race will start and finish on the boardwalk there.
The Run will start at 8:30 a.m. There will also be a walk which will start later at 11:00 a.m.
More information is available on the ARC Website and runners can register on line as well.
There will be a post-walk BBQ lunch at the legendary WonderBar! The Lodges of the 17th Masonic District will be on hand to grill up some great hot dogs for all the participants at the post-race party.
According to Brett Colby of ARC, “you can help The Arc to raise funds which are desperately needed to sustain healthcare and other programs”.
The event will also support rebuilding efforts at The ARC Work Opportunity Center (WOC), which was badly flooded during Hurricane Sandy. The WOC is located in Long Branch, N.J. and provides individuals with disabilities build and strengthen work skills by doing real jobs subcontracted from local businesses.
