59th Annual 'Nizhoni Days PowWow' is 'Honoring our Alumni' April 27, 2014

The 59th annual “Nizhoni Days PowWow” is “Honoring Our Alumni” this year on Sunday April 27, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will be held at Johnson Field on the University of New Mexico (UNM) campus at Albuquerque, N.M. The “Gourd Dance” will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The “Grand Entry” will begin promptly at 1 p.m. Master of Ceremonies is Aaron Fry from the Cherokee & Chickasaw Tribes. It is free & open to the public all day. (Bring your own chairs).

  • Sunday April 20, 2014 at 6 a.m. - Sunrise Ceremony at Johnson Field.

  • Monday April 21, 2014 at 6 p.m. - The Miss Indian UNM Pageant at Keller Hall.

  • Tuesday April 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Reconnecting with our Roots: Kiva Club Alumni Talking Circle at the “Kiva Club Garden” on the corner of Campus BLVD & Redondo.

  • Wednesday April 23, 2014 at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - ONNSFA visit at American Indian Student Services. / From 12 to 1 p.m. - No Place Like Home: Civility Speaker Series at SUB Artium / From 3 to 5 p.m. - American Indian Student Services Spring Social at Mesa Vista Hall West Courtyard.

  • Thursday April 24, 2014 at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. - ONNSFA visit at AISS / From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - American Indian Business Association's “Native American Career Fair” at Jackson Student Center / From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Dine of UNM “Royalty Day” in the SUB.

  • Friday April 25, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Center for Native American Health's INMED Lecture at Dominici Room at HSC / From 12 to 1 p.m. - ApiO's Mutton King Contest / 7 to 10 p.m. - Unsettle: Queer Indigenous Performances in Ballroom C in SUB.

  • Sunday April 27, 2014 - All Day - 59th annual “Nizhoni Days 'Honoring our Alumni' PowWow on Johnson Field. / From 6 to 8 p.m. - Native Health Initiative' Sacred Cypher in SUB atrium.
