56th Grammy nods led by Jay Z and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

The live Grammy nominations concert,held on Fri., Dec. 6, 2013, feaured the nominations for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. The nominations were annouced at Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live and televised live on CBS Television Network. The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will be presented on Sun., Jan. 26, 2014 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and televised live on CBS.

The live Grammy concert was hosted by two-time Grammy winner LL COOL J. Performers announced for live Grammy nominations concert hosted by LL COOL J.

The nominations concert was a lively event opened by newcomers Macklemore & Lewis and closed by Robin Thicke along with T.I., Pharrell Williams and Earth, Wind and Fire performing Blurred Lines. Seven-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift, who received four nods, performed via satellite from Australia. Katy Perry, who garnered two nods, performed Roar via satellite from Canada. Newcomer Lorde who performed her hit Royals.

Jay Z topped the nominations with a total of nine, which included: Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Album. Jay Z also shared nominations with Justin Timberlake, who garnered seven nods, for Best Pop Duo and Best Collaboration.

Following Jay Z in number of total nominations were Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams, with seven nods each. Drake and mastering engineer Bob Ludwig are up for five awards.

Vying for the the top award, Album of the Year, are: Sara Bareilles, Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Taylor Swift.

"This year's nominations truly reflect the talented community of music makers who represent some of the highest levels of excellence and artistry of the year in their respective fields," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy.

This year's GRAMMY Awards® process registered more than 22,000 submissions over a 12-month eligibility period, Oct. 1, 2012, to Sept. 30, 2013. GRAMMY ballots for the final round of voting will be mailed on Wednesday, Dec. 11 to the voting members of The Recording
