There will not be a larger event in the country for the collectible Chevrolets from 1955, 1956 or 1957 than the 29th running of the Texas based Lone Star Classic Chevy Convention this weekend in Irving. Thanks to a strong local '55-'57 Chevy club in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, the Dallas Area Classic Chevys have put together a full 3 days of activities for the expected over 200 'Tri Five' Chevys that will be coming for this big event to be held at the Sheraton Grand DFW Airport Hotel in Irving. And the best part for the locals is that it is FREE to come out and enjoy looking at all the cars!

The '55-'57 Chevy remains one of the most popular and collectible in the old car hobby. Revolutionary when the 1955 model was introduced thanks to an all new small block engine power plant, new frame design and modern styling, then improved with more horsepower in 1956 and then in 1957 perhaps the most popular Chevy of all time came out and had yet even more horsepower and styling that remains popular today.

All across the country there are club's devoted to these Chevy's referred to at 'The Hot One's'. And it is in North Texas that one of the oldest and largest such clubs is firmly rooted. It is with their efforts that this weekend's event will be drawing the Chevy's from as far as California to participate in the events that include formal Show judging, drag racing, poker run, tours, showing the hit hot rod classic movie American Graffiti and the local club will be bringing one of the stars of that movie Candy Clark (who played Debbie) out to the event on Saturday and Sunday.

The show will also feature the debut of the local Oldies band 'Curb Service' This great band has roots to the '50's and will bring the house down in the parking lot of the Sheraton on Saturday evening beginning at 6:30. Expect to hear their smash hit ' I Knew It Was You' that even has a great music video associated with it (something they didn't do back 'in the day'). You can check out the video and learn more about 'Curb Service' at their internet home at www.CurbServiceBand.net.

The event is supported by a number of sponsors lead by Danchuk Manufacturing, the leading manufacturer of parts for the 1955-1957 Chevy. It is with the support of these sponsors that have helped make this the largest for the '55-'57 Chevys in the country.

Be sure and come out to the Sheraton Grand DFW Airport Hotel beginning Friday through Sunday evening and enjoy a trip back in time! Remember, there is no admission cost to view the cars and wearing Blue Suede shoes and Poodle Skirts are definitely in style at this event!
