’52 Weeks of Personal Genealogy & History’ series, challenge #35: Wedding

Here's this week's prompt/challenge: Weddings

Week 35: Tell us about your wedding. You may also talk about your future wedding, the wedding of a relative or shape this question to fit your own life experience.

Gilbert resident, Lisa Millar, shares her memories of her sister’s wedding which had taken place in Logan, UT in 2005.  “I loved the wedding of my sister.  It was really pretty. The reception hall was beautiful—just perfect.  It was in December, the weather was crisp.  [There was light snow everywhere.] Her hair was so pretty.  Her dress was simple, but beautiful.  Nothing was over-the-top.  To me it was just perfect.”

Family History Challenge: Take time to record and preserve your own personal history as well as taking care of your family’s genealogy.  Use these prompts, as you see fit, to chip away at recording your memories as well as life’s lessons learned for the benefit of future generations.  Use your computer or record your memories on paper.  If you have a blog, post them there. These make great prompts for interviewing relatives, too.

Thank you to Amy Coffin of the We Tree blog for putting together this wonderful series.  These prompts are listed on www.geneabloggers.com-- a valuable shared community resource.  Posts from other GeneaBloggers will be found there, too.

Tip of the week:

Sometimes it’s good to get core personal history ideas or feelings into writing on a page—even if they’re quite incomplete.  Go back later to add more details—answering who, what, why, when and where questions that add life and clarity to your entries.  Personal Historian Software gathers such tidbits and even puts your life in a “timeline” for you, so you can get back to any entry with ease.  Simplify your personal history writing process by checking out the Personal Historian Software today!
