Breckenridge Ski Resort is hosting a week-long series of celebrations leading up to the start of its 2013-14 ski season. Opening day at Breckenridge’s 52nd ski season is Friday, Nov. 8, and the pre-season events and promotions start on Saturday, Nov. 2 with the Six Day of Sixes Scavenger Hunt.
Breckenridge will hide six large wooden carvings in the shape of the new Peak 6 logo in six different Colorado counties, and the first people who locate them between Nov. 2-7 will win the chance to ride the first chair of the season at Breckenridge. Check in regularly at Breckenridge’s official Instagram feed (@breckenridgemtn) for clues.
The new terrain at Peak 6 will open based on snowfall and more specific dates will be released as the season progresses, so check back here for the latest.
On Thursday, Nov. 7, Breckenridge will host the resort’s annual Wake up Breck promotion, with Breckenridge Ski Resort management on hand to give out free coffee and exclusive commemorative mugs throughout Breckenridge at local coffee shops.
The giveaway begins at 7 a.m. and continues while supplies last. This year, Town of Breckenridge staff will also be on hand distributing the town’s new free reusable shopping bags. Find the list of participating coffee shops at Breckenridge.com/Wake-Up-Breck.
On opening day, go to Peak 8 early to kick off and celebrate the resort’s 52nd annual season. The first several hundred who attend will get to partake in a free breakfast, including Bavarian cream stuffed nutella éclairs, courtesy of the Ski Hill Grill, Nature Valley Soft Baked Oatmeal Squares, complimentary coffee provided by Starbucks, and other prizes courtesy of Breck’s official partners.
There will also be a special tribute to honor United States service men and women as part of Veterans’ Weekend. For the full schedule, updates on what terrain will be open, and for discount lift tickets, go to Breckenridge.com.
Breck’s Gondola Parking Lots will be $5 during the week (Monday through Thursday) and $12 on weekends (Friday through Sunday) and peak days. The Beaver Run Parking Lot will be $15 daily and $20 on peak days. Free parking is always available in the Airport Road parking lots. If you drive up all season long with four or more people in a vehicle you get a $5 discount on parking at the Gondola Lots and Beaver Run Lot.
