You know it had to happen; you know a best seller book has to have another life. So put down your copy of “Fifty Shades of Grey” and get ready to see it onstage. Well, maybe it won’t look completely like the book. But it got your attention, right?
This weekend, the Baby Wants Candy comedy troop will present “50 Shades! The Musical” in New York City and Rahway. The show played recently at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it was a reported big success with a 4-star review.
The plot involves a ladies book club which has decided to read the best seller “Fifty Shades of Grey." The show centers on their interpretation of the novel which provides a hilarious roller coaster ride. There are dance numbers, 11 original songs, and a live band supplying the music.
The cast includes Amber Petty as Anastasia Steele, Chris Grace as Christian Grey, Jessica Joy as Carol/Secretary, Glennis McCarthy as Bev/Katherine, Meghan Murphy as Pam, Nick Semar as Jose, DJ Blickenstaff as Elliott Grey, Carolina Santos Read as Inner Goddess, Matt McMahan as Red Room, Robert McKee and Nolan McKew.
The show will be performed at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City on Saturday, January 12 at 4:45 PM and 8:00 PM and at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway at 7:30 PM Sunday, January 13.
