50 Shades! The Musical is a “sin”sation in Dallas

Dallas, Texas is known for being part of the Bible belt but the belt just got taken off and used on someone. The old “trip to the woodshed” just got a brand new meaning in the hilarious parody “50 Shades! The Musical” that opened at the Dallas City Center Performance Hall.

The characters of E L James’ first book, “Fifty Shades of Grey,” come alive in the musical that surrounds a group of women as they dive into the work as part of their book club.

Live music performed by a three-piece band pulls the audience into the story and 11 original songs including “They Get Nasty,” “I Don’t Make Love,” and “There’s a Hole Inside of Me” leaves you blushing and laughing to the point of tears. I highly recommend dragging your boyfriend or husband to this.

This musical is certainly not for the prudish. Well, actually, it is for them. Experiencing the musical might help them see a whole new color of the world. Let’s face it there are at least 50 shades of grey. This production contains adult content and is for mature audiences.

“50 Shades! The Musical” runs through Jan. 11 at Dallas City Center Performance Hall, 2520 Flora St. in the Arts District. Click HERE for tickets.
