’50 Shades of Grey’ movie: Alexis Bledel talks about playing Anastasia Steele

“50 Shades of Grey” fans were probably thrilled to learn that the movie will likely hit theaters next summer, but that’s not the only exciting “50 Shades” news that’s making headlines. According to a Feb. 20 report by Zap2it, Anastasia Steele favorite Alexis Bledel has finally spoken out about starring in the movie.

There have been a number of actresses connected to the movie since casting buzz began, with fans supporting sexy stars like Mila Kunis, Lucy Hale, Emma Watson, and Emilia Clarke. However, Alexis Bledel continues to be the most popular pick in most fan polls. She’s probably such a heavy favorite because she has blue eyes that are too big for her face just like Ana, and she also has a virginal quality about her. As Fifty fans know, Anastasia Steele is a virgin before she becomes Christian Grey’s student sex slave. It also helps that fans of “Gilmore Girls” are all grown up and reading “50 Shades of Grey.”

When Alexis Bledel was finally asked if she’s thought about playing Anastasia Steele in the movie, she had this to say: “Certainly. And everyone in my life has asked me about it, because once something's online, a lot of people consider it to be factual in some way. I've had to have conversations about it with pretty much everyone at one point or another, but I don't think the script is even finished yet.”

Alexis didn’t say that she’s not interested, so maybe she’s waiting to read the screenplay before deciding if she desires the racy role. Since she knows that there’s not a script yet, this could indicate that she’s been keeping up with “50 Shades of Grey” movie news. Or maybe her friends just won’t stop talking about it.

It’s a shame Alexis Bledel wasn’t asked who her ideal Christian Grey is. She's been paired with Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder in a lot of fan-made movie trailers, so perhaps she’d pick one of the two TV hotties as her perfect costar. Since she’d be a 31-year-old playing a 21-year-old, she’d need someone a little older to play her Grey. Matt and Ian are both excellent options since they have a few years on her.
