There is an old saying, the grass is always greener on the other side. It simply means that other peoples' lives are much better than own.
There are some people who seem like they have it all: perfect marriage, great job, wonderful children, beautiful home. However, if one were to look more closely, they will find those lives aren't any better than anyone else. No one has a perfect life that is without problems and issues.
When author, E.L James', 50 Shades of Grey novel was released last year, women around the world rushed to buy this book.
Women everywhere were reading this book and then were wanting their marriages to be like the relationship in this book between the characters, Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. They wanted their grass to be green like the green grass Anastasia and Christian had.
This wasn't a normal book. It was dubbed by many as “Mommy porn”. It's completely fantasy.
And this book isn't the answer to repair or bring life back to any marriage. If a marriage is in trouble or has become stagnant, there are many positive, long lasting ways to improve it.
Try doing something nice for your spouse. Giving them flowers or a single rose can go a long way. Have lunch with them on an unexpected day. Go to Burrito Brothers or perhaps, Leonardo's Pizza. Plan a picnic at Bivens Arm Nature Park. Get up extra early to make them breakfast or get them a cup of coffee. Slip a love note in their lunch box, purse, or wallet.
There are so many ways and things that one can do that will bring a couple closer; things that will have a long term affect.
Marriage can be fun. It's all in how you look at it. It's all in how you make it.
