Movie fans are waiting to see "50 Shades of Grey" brought to life on the big screen, but the film is at the center of controversy this week after Charlie Hunnam departed the film project. He had been cast in the lead as Christian Grey. On Wednesday, Oct. 16, Hollywood Life shared the latest from his the female lead of the production. Anatasia Steele is being played by Dakota Johnson.
What will happen to Dakota with Charlie's exit from the film? Nothing. She still has the much sought after role, and a source said the actress is 'excited to see who will take on the role' next. The search is on for the next Christian Grey, and Jamie Dornan has been mentioned as a possible replacement. Dakota will be very involved in the process because the actor will need to have chemistry with her.
As for the reason Hunnam departed the film before production began, Hollywood Life shared another report on that as well. Apparently, Hunnam was not happy with the quality of the script. Another script writer has been hired for the film since his departure.
Hunnam was also concerned about the role and where it would take his career. For now, his loyalty is to "Sons of Anarchy" on FX. Between script issues and casting problems, this film will need a lot more work before it arrives on the big screen. A delay for the film's release is possible as well.
Scottsdale residents will be able to see this film at the Harkins Scottsdale Fashion Square 7 or at another local theater in the area once it is released.
