Many fans of the E.L. James best selling book series “Fifty Shades of Grey” were less than pleased to learn that “Sons of Anarchy” star Charlie Hunnam would play the book's leading man, Christian Grey in the film adaptation. However, according to a video published by E! Online on September 9, Hunnam says he is confident he can bring the kinky billionaire to life.
Hunnam told reporters that he didn't enter into the film lightly, and added that he did a lot of researching and thinking about it. Hunnam says:
“[I] feel confident that I have a way to bring him to life that will be fun and exciting and honest.”
When asked about the steamy sex scenes, Hunnam said: “I've spent a lifetime preparing myself for that.”
Even if Hunnam is confident that he can pull off the role as Christian Grey, many fans of the book aren't convinced. Some even started a petition protesting film casting on Change.org. The petition currently has more than 70,000 signature calling for a change.
“Fifty Shades of Grey” is set to hit theaters in August 2014.
