“50 Shades of Grey” casting has been a hot topic among fans. It has been confirmed that Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam have been cast in the roles. However, according to Sept. 2 reports, Robert Pattinson was the first choice for the title character.
Bret Easton Ellis, who wrote “The Canyons” screenplay claims that “50 Shades of Grey” author E.L. James told him that she wanted Pattinson in the role of Christian Grey.
Ellis also revealed via Twitter that top names Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder were “never in the running” to play Christian.
While Bret dropped the bombshell on fans, it seems likely that E.L. James would have wanted Robert Pattinson during “50 Shades of Grey” casting. The erotic novel was inspired by his “Twilight” character, and James likely pictured Pattinson as Grey while writing the trilogy.
However, there has been no word on whether Rob was interested in the role, or perhaps turned it down.
What do you think about the “50 Shades of Grey” casting of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson? Do you think Robert Pattinson would have been a better choice for Christian Grey?
