Looking for a unique culinary adventure you’ll remember for years to come? Then check the amazing pairing dinner dubbed “Assault on the Senses” on Tuesday, June 24 at 50 Ocean in Delray Beach. Chef Blake Malatesta will present an extraordinary 5-course meal, featuring fresh-caught seafood, free-range and hormone-free meats, locally sourced produce, and fresh herbs from his own herb garden. Each course will be paired with a specifically matched drink, from champagne and saki, to fine wine and Chambord.

Wine pairing dinners are not uncommon -- but THIS one sets new standards in culinary creativity, as Chef Blake ventures into the culinary stratosphere. This innovative “Assault on the Senses” promises to engage each of your senses – sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. As Manager Mark DeAtley explains, “50 Ocean’s ‘Assault’ pairing dinner is an in-depth experience of unique touches that will trick and enhance your senses with perfectly paired spirits.”

The adventure commences with a “Sight” starter, featuring a duo of East Coast oysters, served with vivid beet root jelly and orange jelly, radish, celery, and braised fennel; paired with a seductive duo of Moet et Chandon champagne "Shooters." Next comes the “Sound” offering, invoking sounds of the forest with ‘edible soil,’ wild and tamed mushrooms, cabbage patch, roasted onion, edible flora and fauna, tossed in a light watering can vinaigrette; accompanied by a Domaine Druhin Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley.

The next course focuses on “Smell,” inviting you to delight in faint ocean fragrances, with poached scallops, lobster, and cured local wahoo partying together along with an inspired tapioca “sand,” beachwood mushrooms, sea beans, and “ocean essence” (wow!). 50 Ocean’s special Sake Sizzle provides a perfectly refreshing accompaniment to the unique creation. Moving on the main “Taste,” savor authentic Jackman Ranch Akaushi strip loin, accentuated with crispy egg yolk, buttered potato and jus, and honey peppered micro salad, all precisely paired with a vertical tasting of Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon.

The finishing “Touch” provides a memorable finale with Drunk Doughnuts, accompanied by spiced rum caramel, Chambord, and Godiva chocolate, plus a special DIY Java!

The Five-course Assault Pairing Dinner take place Tuesday, June 24, 2014, from 6:00 p.m.-8 p.m.
