5 Warm Spots to Escape Winter in DC!

See also

DC loves complaining about three things. The Redskins, Metro, and the weather. Facebook and Twitter have been deluded with weather reports and people upset that it's Winter. Where does one go to get some respite, enjoy a refreshing drink and maybe enjoy the warmth that only a fireplace can provide?

The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown Lobby Lounge/Degrees (3100 South St., NW; 202-912-4111)

You won't find a classier fireside spot in DC! Even better, a “s’more-elier” passes out complimentary treats with house-made marshmallows and Valrhona chocolate.. Enjoy a new menu with drinks such as a cinnamon-infused Manhattan and ramen sliders. A perfect way to beat the Winter blues.

The Brixton (901 U St., NW; 202-560-5045)

Suffering from Winter brain? Two gas fireplaces in the second-floor lounge will quickly warm you up and make you feel at home inside the hunting-lodge aesthetic. Happy hour from 5 PM to 7 PM with $6 glasses of wine, $5 drafts and certain vodkas, and $4 Bud Light.

Chez Billy (3815 Georgia Ave., NW; 202-506-2080)

This French bistro is very inviting, with its cozy wood-burning fireplace in the middle of the room. Regular happy hour deals include $5 cocktails and $7 soups from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, plus $10 house hot toddies to warm up from the Winter winds.

Sign of the Whale (1825 M St., NW; 202-785-1110)

Happy hour often draws young professionals to tables around the wood-burning fireplace and their specials are among the best in town. Everything is half off. Hard to beat that. Talk about the Redskins, Metro, and Winter at the bar.

City Tap House (901 Ninth St., NW; 202-644-9433)

This Penn Quarter beer spot has brews to heat you up while enjoying a built-in wall fireplace. Happy hour from 5 PM to 7PM includes $5 craft drafts like Tröegs Dreamweaver and $6 glasses of wine.
