5 tips to sticking to your New Year's resolution

Be realistic
Make a resolution that is possible. Don’t say want to look like Heidi Klum, or that you are going to run 5 miles a day when you haven’t ran since middle school.

Go slow
Focus on 1 goal at a time & keep goals small.
For example:
• Vow to eat 1 fruit or vegetable at each meal. When you can do that increase it to 2 per meal.
• Have a vegetarian day.
• Skip dessert for one night.

Use the buddy system
Find a friend that has the same resolution or already does one of your resolutions. Having an obligation to someone will help keep you on track.

Give yourself a break
Have a day or two where you can take a break from your resolution.
For example, if you resolution is to exercise everyday, give yourself the weekends off; have that piece of chocolate (one small piece); or be lazy for a day.

Forgive & don’t give up!
If you fall off the horse, get back on. Forgive yourself and start new the next day. You can do it!
